Looks Can Be Deceiving With This Converted School Bus

When a school bus breaks down, it usually goes to a junkyard to gradually be used for parts and scrap until it is unrecognizable from the original vehicle. But, sometimes they get a chance at another life. Some school buses manage to make it to auction, and if they are lucky they are bought by one young woman who will turn the bus into something even better than before.

That’s what happened to one school bus sold from Shelbyville, Tennessee. One woman purchased an old, broken down school bus through an online auction for just over $2,000 dollars and, with the help of friends and family, turned it into a cozy home named after a Norwegian word for “open air life” – Friluftsliv.

The long conversion of the 2000 International Diesel, 60-passenger bus was documented on a blog, Tiny Home Bus Conversion, and the final product is stunning. From the outside, it looks like an ordinary bus, with only a sign on the front reading “Friluftsliv” distinguishing the skeleton from others. However, on the inside you can find all the amenities you’d hope to see in a small home including comfortable sleeping spaces and even a complete kitchen.

See some more images of the cozy home below, and you can see more on how the conversion process here.
