School Bus Safety Week Kicks Off With a Focus on Stop-Arm Violations

Stop-arm violations have become a major topic in the school bus industry, and others are finally starting to take notice. Today marks the start of School Bus Safety Week and rather than share the same safety tips you hear every year, two major news outlets decided to focus on those who don’t stop for buses.

Last week, ABC News devoted a segment to stop-arm violations and the new bus technology which is able to catch dangerous drivers in the act. Then NBC’s Today kicked off School Bus Safety Week and a new series called “Danger Zone” with a similar report.

Both reports feature shocking video of real accidents. Although no one featured in those accidents was seriously injured, there are several instances where children have been killed due to negligent drivers. Thankfully, reports like these show that more people are becoming aware of the issue and law enforcement is increasing enforcement of stop-arm laws.
