How We Can Keep Improving Bus Safety

School buses are already accepted as one of the safest transportation options available, especially for young children. Still, we got that reputation with hard work and innovation, not by resting on our laurels.

Frank Di Giacomo, publisher of School Bus Fleet and Vice President, bus and rail, at Bobit Business Media, recently urged us to keep improving our safety standards, and he has a plan for how we can do so.

There are plenty of areas buses can keep improving on – technology assisted busing seems obvious here – but Di Giacomo suggests the first place we need to look when we ask if buses could be safer is lap-shoulder belts. These belts are already a contentious argument in the bus industry, but Di Giacomo defends his point well. Read his full argument here.
